This unit was designed and built for the Lost Harbour Inn in Sylvan Lake. After researching and trying to find a vendor to purchase the units from and getting it shipped to Alberta, was going to run around $265.00 to $280.00 for each piece. Then the color selection and quality of material was less than desirable.
So, After going in to each room, I decided to make a single sided unit that would attach to the side wall, make a smaller foot print and save money in material without having to have the second side. Then I needed to make the unit, so it could be mounted on the left and right side walls.
After making the first prototype and creating jigs for the next 16 of them, I also decided to incorporate screw inserts for easy setup for either left or right wall mounting.
The colors were painted and stained to match the wall color and blend in, instead of sticking out “like a sore thumb”.
This process ended up costing the hotel more than half the price of the hotel suppliers.
